What is more, many innocent people have perished.</P><P>Errors in the original post:</P><P>"...which participate in <U>the</U> war" - 'participate' does not collocate with (搭配) 'war'; you go to war , declare war etc；定冠词 'the' 的用法不恰当. </P><P>"...which <U>participate</U> in the war, <U>were</U> disastrous in developing economy." - 时态不一致;</P><P>When something is disastrous (for something), it causes great damage ; 原句里'were disastrous' 的主语是countries不是'war' - So, are you saying countries caused damage to their own economies? That does not make sense!</P><P>"there are always a lot of innocent people dead in war." - After a sentence introduced by the existential subject 'there',  a relative clause (关系从句) or a verb in -ing must follow, <EM>there are always many innocent people who die/dying in war</EM>. (I assume the two sentences are used in a formal context, 'many' would be more appropriate than ' a lot of').</P><P>
