<P>'how come' is only used in spoken English. The phrase does mean 'why' but only when you're surprised about something. In this context, it's quite unusual to ask (yourself) "How come I'm here?" unless you dont' know and are surprised about being here. </P>
<P>P.S. You do hear Singapore speakers use 'how come' very often even when they're not surprised about what they hear...</P>
