以下是引用davier在2004-9-29 17:58:04的发言:

1) You need to sit down with someone in your company who is familiar with your job scope and ask that person to explain to you in detail about the nature of your job

2) IF you need to fill in alot of forms and you are not familiar with those forms, always ask. This is because in Singapore, if you do not know and don't, it is a poor refleciton on your character. Therefore you need to ask. Your collegues might find it troublesome at first. But sooner or later, they will come to understand that you are trying to learn something and they will help you.

3) Look through the past records. See how your predecessor does your job. Learn from it.

4) Everytime you come across words that you are not familiar with, write the words down and check their meaning. Compile them to a list and paste it on your desk.

5) As always, a good ENGLISH-CHINESE dictionary is very useful. Always have on on your desk.

6) The above are all short term remedies. The long term solution is to improve your English. The best way is to read the newspaper (The Straits Times) everyday. Even though you have no interest in it, please force yourself to read it. This will help to improve your English in the shortest way.

Hope the above helps. Cheers
[em01]

definitely professional!
[em07] |
